Another game store closes

We have lost another game store and one that my group used many times over the last 2 or 3 years.  It is a shame that the owner had to close up his shop.  Chris' store gave us a warm and friendly place to game and socialize.  So it begins again, trying to find a new place to game that is both accessible for everyone in the group and provides the right atmosphere to game.  Good bye Knight Fall Games.

  1. Not enough business in the area for him?

  2. He hasn't said what the reasons are and I didn't press for an answer. On Saturdays when we game the store has always been full of people and there were lots of tournaments going on for the scifi/fantasy crowd but I don't know how that equated into store revenue for him.

  3. Uffff! Internet is not helping at all... bookshops are following the same trail. Last March I was in Philadelphia for business and I could not locate a single one open in the commercial distrcit

  4. I'm afraid that bookstores and gaminmg stores share a similar problem - a hiuge selection to carry and variable consumption. Having to keep inventory on hand that may move very slowly is costly. I'm afraid that internet sales just make more sense economically, and the move to ebooks for both books and eventually wargames rules will likley only aggravate the trend. Who knows, in the US we might eventually see more of the UK "club" trend, where groups of gamers rent a common space for their tables, figures, etc. Maybe! meanwhile, thank goodness for basements!
